i am really upset about Motorcity getting the ax

it isn’t a perfect show by any means, i always maintained how i watched it for the visuals and fun over the story. but. somewhere between Reunion and Like Father Like Daughter the writing got REALLY good. and then Julie and The Amazons, Threat Level: Texas, Vega like, woah. wo ah.

and the fact that slowly but surely some real worldbuilding was happening. i mean, yeah, it could have stood to start earlier, but i think what happened there was ideally the heavy heating story stuff was going to start really picking up in the second season.

and all of those really good artists were so engaged with fans, and Prynoski himself, and the fact he had been pitching this for years, and,

like, what is even the future of animated shows if actually good shows with potential ends like this

One of the best things about Motorcity is the way the Burners chose to fight against a broken system that silences their form of expression. This is a great example for kids to know that there really isn’t just ONE way to fight for change, there are several ways you can do that!

-Mike fights hands on, he tries his best to be an example by getting out there and showing people it’s a fight worth fighting. He stands up for his loved ones and encourages them to do good and help the fight in any way they can.

-Chuck fights it from a comfort zone, because he would rather do something, anything he can and then try to avoid things that trigger his anxiety. And the greatest thing is he’s told he’s not a coward for doing it that way, he is told he is brave because he chooses to fight. 

-Dutch fights by creating. He creates ways to express anger towards the current situation and hope towards the future, giving others the inspiration to do the same. He creates hope for others, beauty in the middle of a battlezone. 

-Texas fights by beaming confidence and no doubt in their ability to success. He’s a constant boost of optimism and the guy who will go to jail singing songs of victory, because even if you didn’t succeed completely, at least you started a riot. 

-Julie fights in secret. No one really knows the things she is risking by fighting and she feels no need for glorification. She fights silently, but just as effective as those who fights hands on. Just as good as anyone else out there, face on the news, name on everyone’s lips. 

All of these ways are good ways to fight against an oppressing power. All of these ways are valid and awesome ways to fight for what you believe in. Because if we just sit back and expect the world to change by itself, we’re going to be the losers. Then Kane wins.

If any of you out there are willing to fight for the show, then I don’t think we should be fighting for Disney to bring it back for a second season.

Rather, we should be asking Disney to give the I.P. back to Titmouse.  After all of the leaks, lack of advertising gigs, time slot changes and hiatuses, it’s becoming blatantly obvious that Disney never really cared for the show to begin with.  Fight all you want for them to bring it back on XD, but they won’t.  They have their decisions set in stone.

Now would be a good time for me to post this, which I found on 4chan.  I believe the message was originally for Young Justice or DC Nation, but I think this can account for all endangered shows of all networks, including Motorcity.  So here you go:

I have been following the show ever since the first episode aired on TV, and I am certain this is how they ended to take it down from the start.  The evidence was beginning to pile up…:

-Move the time slot constantly.

-Cripple the fandom and veiwer base through a series of long, draining hiatuses, RIGHT WHEN THE SHOW IS SEEING A HUGE POPULARITY BOOST ONLINE

-And although this isn’t in the 4chan post - leaks.  Leaks played a large part as well.

Chris Prynoski and Co. had been pitching the show for at least 10 years before Disney decided to buy it.  This was probably the studio’s baby in more ways then one. At the very least, if any of your are planning to send letters and complaints to Disney, then TELL THEM TO GIVE THE IP BACK TO TITMOUSE. 

Better the I.P. be in the hands of its creators then someone who doesn’t give a shit at all.

It is with great sadness that I must announce that DisneyXD will not be renewing Motorcity for a second season.

This has been such an amazing and rewarding project for all of us here at Titmouse work on, thanks in no small part to all of you.  I can’t begin to tell you how much having such awesome fans has ment to us.

I’m not really sure what else to say, so I’m just going to include the email that Chris P. sent out to the studio this morning:
